Birthplace Room of Andrew Carnegie
Photographer: Brandon Fletcher
Taken: June 4, 2013
Caption: Birthplace Room of Andrew Carnegie
Additional Description: It was in this room that Andrew Carnegie was born on the evening of Wednesday 25 November 1835. Mother, father, and children ate, slept, worked and played in this one room. The room across the passageway was occupied by another family. Water and coal had to be carried up the narrow stairs. Besides cooking and washing for her family, Mrs Carnegie filled the bobbins for her husband's loom and dropped them through a hole in the floor to his workroom below.
