Additional Description: This 1807 sculpture by Augustin Chevalier was originally part of the Union Bank Building designed by Robert Cary Long, Sr. It was donated to the museum by the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company. The broken gas lamp reminds us that Rembrandt Peale founded the Gas Light Company of Baltimore in 1816 the ancestor of Baltimore Gas and Electric.
