Additional Description: This marker is found at the original location of the flagpole that is shown in the accompanying photos. It reads "Upon this spot stood the original flagstaff at the entrance to Camp Rathbun 1861-Spring 1864 and the Elmira Prison Camp known as Camp Chemung July 1864 - July 1865, May 3, 1992".
