Caption: Kirkpatrick's and Massie's Batteries Positions
Additional Description: Looking from the vicinity of the Massie's Battery tablet to the northeast. Kirkpatrick's and Massie's batteries were posted along this high ground in the center of this photo with orders to provide covering fire for the Confederate infantry engaged around Culp's Hill and East Cemetery Hill from the night of July 2, into the early morning hours of July 3. The position held here had previously been occupied by Graham's Battery during the fighting in the afternoon of July 2.
