Additional Description: On August 23, 1945, Peter J. Dalessandro was one of 28 service members awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor by President Harry S. Truman in the East Room of the White House, for bravery in action and for valor. This photo hangs in a meeting room of the Italian American Community Center, a membership organization founded in 1971, located in Albany, courtesy of the Treffiletti Family. Dalessandro had been a member there.
