1765 map related to Chilhowee Marker
Photographer: Lou Claudio
Taken: February 2016
Caption: 1765 map related to Chilhowee Marker
Additional Description: Though the marker is on the north side of the Little Tennessee River, adjacent to Abrams Creek, in this portion of a map drawn in 1765 (oriented with North to the left) we see that the Chilhowee village was across the river from the creek. The map was drawn by British soldier, Lt. Henry Timberlake, who lived among the Cherokee. A description of his expedition and a high-resolution version of his map is available at > https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timberlake_Expedition
