Caption: Major Thomas W. Osborn
Additional Description: A New York Lawyer, at the start of the war, Osborn raised Battery D, 1st New York Light Artillery. After distinguished action at Chancellorsville, Osborn was given command of the XI Corps Artillery Brigade. Later in the war he accompanied General Howard on the "March to the Sea" leaving a detailed account of the campaign. After the war, Osborn moved to Florida for some time, and was selected as a U.S. Senator representing the state in 1868.
