Caption:
Brockenbrough's Brigade in Longstreet's Assault | Additional Description: Looking east from Confederate Avenue toward Cemetery Ridge. Col. Robert Mayo had command of the Brigade in place of Col. John M. Brockenbrough. The Brigade's line of march, as the far left of the assault, was left of center, almost along the modern tree line. Their objective was the Bryan House (white house on the distant left on the ridge). About half way across the open ground, the Brigade encountered a strong flank attack by the 8th Ohio Infantry. Disrupted, the Virginians fell back in disorder.
