Additional Description: The mutiny that occurred here on January 20, 1780 was the third of that winter by Continental soldiers. After being met by six hundred loyal troops sent by Gen. Washington from West Point, the mutinous soldiers disbanded. Three of the ringleaders were sentenced to hang. One was pardoned, but Sergeants David Gilmore and John Tuttle were executed near here.
