Additional Description: General Washburn was stationed at Vicksburg during the siege. After the Civil War he started a grain milling company. He entered his flour in the international millers'competition and won the "Gold Medal". Washburn renamed his flour "Gold Medal Flour" which is still being sold today. After selling the Washburn, Crosby Milling Company, which later became General Mills, he was elected Governor of Wisconsin in 1872.
