Ohio & Erie Canal Sign | Additional Description: In Lock Meadows Park next to canal lock. “309 miles from Cleveland to Portsmouth. Constructed by the Granville Co. 1829 to 1830. First boat through canal Sept. 25, 1831. Length of chamber - 90 feet; width of chamber - 15 feet. Lockbourne founded in 1831 by James Kilbourne.”
