Entrance to the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific
Photographer: J. J. Prats
Taken: October 23, 2008
Caption: Entrance to the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific
Additional Description: The plaque on the right pillar is an excerpt from Theodore O'Hara's "The Bivouac Of The Dead." It reads,
    The muffled drums sad roll has beat
          The soldier's last tattoo;
    No more on life's parade shall meet
          That brave and fallen few.
    On Fame's eternal camping-ground
          Their silent tents are spread,
    And Glory guards, with solemn round,
          The bivouac of the dead.
