Foiled Bank Robbery Site Marker | Additional Description: 1897 - Carbon County MT Sheriff John Dunn (back left in black) & associates, walking Kid Curry (left), Sundance Kid (middle) & Walt Punteney (right) to the train in Lavina MT (to be returned to SD as wanted men) after he & his posse captured them.
These members of the Hole In The Wall Gang (also referred to as The Wild Bunch) were on the run after robbing a bank in Belle Fourche SD & had planned on robbing the bank in Red Lodge MT when they were found out & the chase ensued. Sheriff Dunn shot Kid Curry through his wrist (which he is holding up in this photo) & then captured him.
