Additional Description: Early in the afternoon of July 2, while waiting for the order to advance, Hays' Brigade was arrayed across what is today the Gettysburg Middle School. The ground has changed significantly since the battle. Hays' left flank was roughly in the center of this open area at the north end of the school complex. The right flank was anchored on the Baltimore Street. Thus the frontage of the Brigade was along present day Leefver Street.
