Additional Description: Abbeville Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is comprised of the large portion of the City of Abbeville. Of the 528 properties in the district, 319 are considered to contribute to its historical character. The City has an active Historic Properties Protection Commission (HPPC) which protects the historical architectural features of many of the buildings you see in and around the Square.
