Additional Description: Less than 100 meters from the marker, within Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Pub, there hangs this copy of the 1772 portrait of Johnson by Sir Joshua Reynolds. Johnson was a frequent patron of the pub, and the portrait is said to hang above Johnson's favorite seat - the seat in which your correspondent deemed himself fortunate to have had lunch in, but also quite unworthy of occupying.
