Caption:
46th Pennsylvania Infantry Lines | Additional Description: Looking past the monument down Slocum Avenue toward Spangler's Meadow. Traces of re-created breastworks stand near the monument and road. Further down the hill is a stone wall, used by Confederates as a defensive line on July 3. Notice in the far distance, in the open field, is the position marker for the 27th Indiana. This gives an indication of how commanding these breastworks were, and why it was vital for Union forces to recapture them.
