Caption: Winton Cemetery (site of Grave of Patrick Henry’s Mother)
Additional Description: The small Winton Cemetery contains burials dating from 1784-1889. There are twenty-six known burials marked with stone, both upright and table stone. It is located to the west and behind the Winton manor house on the grounds of the Winton Country Club, near the 15th tee. The brick wall surrounding the cemetery was erected in 1969 and contains the gate from nearby St. Mark's Episcopal Church. The Winton Cemetery is not clearly visible from the highway (where the marker is located). The first burial was that of Sarah Winston Syme Henry (1710-1784). She was the mother of patriot and orator, Patrick Henry.
