Additional Description: “The Kawaiahao Church erects this plaque commemorating the 150th anniversary of our cornerstone laid on June 8, 1839. Contents of this cornerstone are: Hawaiian Bible, volume of mathematics in Hawaiian, books on surveying, geometry, navigation; Kapeau’s brassplate indicating Kamehameha III, date and purpose of church and map of Hawaiian Islands and of Honolulu. Erected June 8, 1989.”

“Kawaiahao Church and Mission Houses has been designated a Registered National Historic Landmark under the provisions of the Historic Sites Act of August 21, 1935. This site possesses exceptional value in commemorating and illustrating the history of the United States. U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service. 1963.”
