Caption: St. John Baptist Church community center (former Dorseyville School)
Additional Description: This community center, located across the street from St. John Baptist Church, is the old Dorseyville School. Freedmen went to school here even though the government did not allow schools for former slaves. Because it was a church owned school they could teach the children.
