Marker detail: Army flight operations at Crissy Field | Additional Description: This is the earliest known photograph of Army flight operations at Crissy Field. In 1921, Marshal Ferdinand Foch, commander of the victorious allied armies in World War I, inspected this new installation and pronounced it, "The last word in airfields.”
