Additional Description: After his defeat in the First Italian War for Independence, Garibaldi lived here while accompanying a friend attempting to start businesses in the area. Granada at the time was experiencing an economic boom as part of the shortcut across Nicaragua to San Francisco and the California Gold Rush of the 1840s-1850s.
