Marker detail: Coal and grain cars | Additional Description: Coal traffic has been a mainstay in the Roanoke area for well over a century. In the former Virginian Railway yard, about a mile to the south of the Railwalk, coal and grain cars await movement both east and south. The locomotives on the left are in line for refueling.
