91st Pennsylvania Overlook of the Valley of Death
Photographer: Craig Swain
Taken: July 24, 2008
Caption: 91st Pennsylvania Overlook of the Valley of Death
Additional Description: From near the monument looking west across the "Valley of Death." On the far side of Plum Run's valley is Houck's Ridge (with the Devil's Den to the south, left in this photo). To the right are a pile of boulders known as the "curious rocks" which formed a natural fortification. The 91st Pennsylvania suffered far few casualties, as a percentage of those engaged, than the units to their left. While certainly engaged, the main focus of the Confederate attacks was on the south sides of Little Round Top.
