83rd. Pennsylvania Infantry Monument | Additional Description: The statue atop the monument is not supposed to, but probably depicts Col. Strong Vincent drawing his saber. Note the Maltese cross of the Fifth Corps on the monument's front, above the state seal.
Pennsylvania regimental monuments were, by the preference of the governing board at the time, not supposed have likenesses of their commanders. Such statuary was reserved for individual monuments. Officially, the officer drawing the sword simply looks a lot like Vincent, but could be any of the regiment's officers.
