44th New York Infantry Monument | Additional Description: Seen from the trail (north) side. Note the Maltese Cross of the Fifth Corps atop the "castle tower." The monument is 44 feet tall, making it the tallest regimental monument at Gettysburg. Standing atop one of the battlefield's highest point, the viewing deck offers an outstanding view of the southern half of the battlefield.
