West Virginia Statehood Stone | Additional Description: West Virginia became a separate state from Virginia in the height of the Civil War, June 20, 1863. This stone was the courthouse grounds, facing Washington Street. It was moved during 2015 renovations. The county may sell it to the highest bidder.
