Photographer: Andrew Ruppenstein
Taken: September 23, 2019
Caption: Eiserner Steg / The Iron Bridge - looking south on the bridge toward Sachsenhausen
Additional Description: Of minor note here are, 1) the locks all along the railings, and 2) The Greek motto visible on the north bridge piling: "ΠΛΕΩΝ ΕΠΙ ΟΙΝΟΠΑ ΠΟΝΤΟΝ ΕΠ ΑΛΛΟΘΡΟΟΥΣ ΑΝΘΡΩΠΟΥΣ". Put there in 1999, it is a quote from Homer's Odyssey, roughly "Sailing on the dark sea to people of other languages".
