Caption: 97th New York Infantry Position
Additional Description: Identified by flank markers on either side of the monument, the 97th New York held a line along the top of Oak Ridge in the afternoon of July 1st. The regiment charged forward into the open fields during the repulse of Iverson's Brigade, but returned to this line.
