Additional Description: Looking at the monument from the south, with the right flank marker stone beyond the monument. Cross's Brigade advanced into the open from the northeast during the middle phase of the action in the Wheatfield. The 148th Pennsylvania was one of the regiments on the left, advancing to encounter portions of Anderson's Confederate Brigade around the stone wall to the south edge of the field. The 148th was pressed out of the Wheatfield by the final Confederate attacks in the sector.
