(1823-1893)

Additional Description: Born in Pickensville in 1823, he built a depot in 1874 near the site of the Old Market Square in downtown Easley. He did so in order to lure the railroads into this area where he owned land and stood to make a handsome profit. In 1863 and 1864, Holcombe represented Pickens County in the General Assembly. He was the father of nine children, a postmaster, magistrate, farmer, merchant, miller, auctioneer, and the first mayor of Easley.
