Left Flank of Brooke
Photographer: Craig Swain
Taken: November 11, 2008
Caption: Left Flank of Brooke's Brigade
Additional Description: Looking across Brooke Avenue across the Rose Farm pastures. The 2nd Delaware was the left most unit in Brooke's Brigade during the advance through the Wheatfield. The Delaware troops had a view similar to this across the fields, with portions of Semmes' and Anderson's Confederate Brigades opposing them. With the Brigade's advanced position here, the Delaware regiment's left flank was in the air. After the Confederates regrouped and were reinforced, their counterattacks caught the 2nd Delaware on three sides - front, left and rear.
