Additional Description: The monument position represents the secondary position held by the regiment after initial contact with the Confederates. As stated in the text, the 5th Michigan was deployed on a skirmish line to the southwest of the Wheatfield in Rose Woods. As the fighting evolved, the skirmish line was pulled back, and the regiment redeployed in line here on Stony Hill.
