Additional Description: Two High Falls crossings are shown in this illustration. The stone twin arch bridge built in 1826 is shown in the background. It was later demolished. The Roebling suspension aqueduct shown in the foreground was constructed in 1849 during a period of enlargements and improvements to the canal. The aqueduct was destroyed by fire in 1917. All that remains of these two structures are the abutments of the Roebling aqueduct including the cable anchorage.
