Marker detail: The Wassenberg Peony Gardens | Additional Description: The Wassenberg Peony Gardens east of Van Wert, shown in full bloom in the late 1930’s. Charles Wassenberg took a great interest in commercial flower farming, establishing this large flower nursery for peonies, iris, and other flowers. For 26 years Wassenberg was Director of the American Peony Society.
