Caption: Third Day Position of the 17th Maine
Additional Description: Looking south down Hancock Avenue. The 17th Maine was one of the III Corps units moved up to reinforce the II Corps line during Longstreet's assault of July 3. The regiment lost heavily in the previous day's fighting, but thankfully the fighting here was much less severe.
