Additional Description: Founded in 1851 by Methodist minister Rev Jon H. Brakeley at the end of Farnsworth Avenue and the Delaware River, the Bordentown Female College enjoyed a reputation as a fine finishing school for young ladies. It drew its students largely from New York society, and continued its education tradition in the subject areas of art and literature until falling financial victim the the Panic of 1893. The monument at the intersection of Farnsworth Ave and Crosswicks St is dedicated to the Bordentown Female College.
