William F. Allen banner on display in Bordentown | Additional Description: Born in Bordentown in 1846, Allen is credited with helping to establish standard time. As editor of the Railroad Guide and Secretary of the Railway Association, his understanding and advocacy of standardizing time by zones and was instrumental in the implementation of standard time in the United States and Canada in 1883. The Old City Hall clock tower on Crosswicks Street is dedicated to William F. Allen.
