Marker detail: A Toll Bridge | Additional Description: Mark Twain and Adolph Sutro, riding horseback from Virginia City to Dayton, rode across Bolivar Roberts' bridge in 1862. Roberts built the tollhouse after the flood of 1861-1862 washed out the bridge. The Carson and Colorado also crossed here, the site where the Dayton Bridge now stands.
