Caption:
Fifth New York Independent Battery Position | Additional Description: Looking to the northeast at the Cemetery Drive. The monument is located where the road turns to the left. Taft's Battery maintained two positions around the north end of Evergreen Cemetery. While two sections fronted the Baltimore Pike and faced east, another section was placed on the high ground here overlooking the town of Gettysburg. On the right, past the National Cemetery fence, in Evergreen Cemetery is a tablet and two cannon representing Taft's Battery location. A flank marker at the feet of the photographer indicates the left flank of the battery.
