Caption: Right Flank of the 73rd Ohio
Additional Description: Looking south down Taneytown Road toward the monument. On the left of this photo are the flank markers for the 73rd and 55th Ohio. The regiment maintained a line along the stone walls bordering the road, with a skirmish line forward toward the Emmitsburg Road. As evidenced by the casualty figures stated on the monument, the regiment maintained a brisk skirmish on July 2 and 3 in the open fields to the west of Emmitsburg Road.
