Right Flank of the 68th New York | Additional Description: Looking back at the monument from the right flank marker stone. In the evening of July 1, the 68th New York was hit by the 6th North Carolina of Avery's Confederate Brigade. The New Yorkers gave only limited resistance before retreating up the slopes beyond the Federal artillery.
