Additional Description: From 5 March through 11 March, 1944, allied aircraft and gliders airlifted British Army Brig. Gen. Orde C. Wingate’s Special Force (Chindits) with 9,000 personnel and 1,400 mules and horses from India at night to a location 200 miles behind enemy lines in Burma.
