Additional Description: The cornerstone of the church was laid in 1879, and services were held there the following Easter. The parish at this time was run by Father Michael Wallrath (born 1841 in Bochum, Germany), who was also responsible for the construction of a number of other places of worship in the area, notably the Grand Island Shrine and churches in Maxwell, Arbuckle, Willows, and Williams. He was also responsible for the construction of the Washington Block, as well as eight houses, in Colusa.
