Additional Description: People came to Sylvan Lake on the DUR trolley system from Detroit and elsewhere, as shown in the 1909 route map at right. In 1895, Merrill B. Mills built a link to this system through Sylvan Lake, as shown in the map above. The trolley stopped at the corner of Garland Avenue and Pontiac Drive, and a horse and buggy picked up visitors to go to the Sylvan Lake Inn.
