The Slope of Top of Big Round Top
Photographer: Craig Swain
Taken: April 4, 2009
Caption: The Slope of Top of Big Round Top
Additional Description: Looking downhill from the monument location. The 34th Pennsylvania along with other regiments from Fifth Corps occupied Big Round Top in the evening of July 2nd after the Confederate repulse at Little Round Top. The 34th sparred with Confederate skirmishers in the valley below on July 3, but without any significant renewal of fighting in this sector. This photo shows the clear terrain advantage for the defenders of Big Round Top.
