Additional Description: This photograph from 1862 does not depict Seneca Village, but a house and garden just outside the park’s southern boundary at 59th Street. It gives us some idea of what a garden in Seneca Village might have looked like. The wooden structure on the right is inside the park, and a similar one, called the Cop Cot, still stands on that spot today.
