Marker in Thomas Park | Additional Description: During the winter of 1775-76, Gen. Henry Knox transported cannons from Fort Ticonderoga to Cambridge. On the night of March 4, 1776, Gen. George Washington placed these cannon here overlooking British-held Boston, forcing them to evacuate the city on March 17.
