Additional Description: In the afternoon of August 30, General Pope, ordered a multi-division assault on the Confederate line holding along the unfinished railroad. The advanced wheeled forward from what is today Fetherbed Lane (in front of the tree line in the distance) and turned north to face the Confederate line. Much of the Federal force, including Morrell's Division crossed over the open fields in the center of this view.
