Schoharie Valley Engine House
Photographer: Howard C. Ohlhous
Taken: June 21, 2008
Caption: Schoharie Valley Engine House
Additional Description: This is D&H Caboose # 35842 which was restored and placed on display in the Schoharie Valley Railroads Museum's combination Engine House and Freight House. George Elston was instrumental in getting this project accomplished with the Bridge Line Historical Society. In the far end of the building beyond the caboose a cone-shaped sheet metal funnel still hangs from the ceiling. This was used to channel the smoke from the steam engine smokestack out of the building while parked in the engine stall. The caboose is open for viewing and used to display related memorabilia.
